Rachel's Confirmation 2003

Rachel was confirmed this weekend. This means that she is now a full member of the Catholic Church. The service was the culmination of a long process of preparation including group sessions and a weekend retreat.

Lunch before the service We had lunch in the garden before the service. John cooked moussaka, potatoes and salad.

Rachel reading in church During the service Rachel read from John 4:7-10, "My dear people, let us love one another since love comes from God ..."

Rachel confirmed Rachel's uncle Micheal was her sponsor. So he went up with Rachel when she was confirmed and received the holy spirit from the Bishop.

Rachel confirmed Rachel's uncle Anthony is a priest and he came along to be involved in the service. And her brother James even came along too.

Rachel confirmed Everyone enjoyed the day -- even though Rachel is now taller then her mother.

As Rachel's cousin Katie was here for half-term week we also went over to Thorpe Park to try out the new rides.

Group at Thorpe Park The day was a bit overcast but warm enough to go on the wet rides. James came along with his friend Dan.

Colossus Ride The very twisty Colossus was one of the new ones for us. We got straight on when the park opened and everyone loved it.

Nemesis Ride We hadn't been on the new Nemesis Inferno either. John ducked out of that one but the kids all thought it was great. And they had Fast Track tickets so they only had a short wait.

Tidal Wave Ride The Tidal Wave ride is one of our favourites. It's over pretty quick but waiting for the drop gets you every time.

Tidal Wave Splash And the splash at the bottom is fantastic. Especially if you are in the front row and can see the wall of water in front of you.

Vortex Ride But John's favourite is the Vortex swing. It's like a traditional swing boat, but you twist round as you go up and down. It's huge and you can really feel the g-forces at the bottom of the swing.
