Autumn Trips 2004

Through some odd coincedences we all ended up away from home for a few days at the end of the year. Anne and John went to St Paul de Vence in Southern France; Rachel went to Turkey with her cousin Katy; and James went to a studio in Köln to record the first tracks of a possible album.

St Paul main street Anne and John had a great time in St Paul. It is a famous "village pèrche" that was very fashionable back in the '60s. We had a bit of trouble finding our way past the barriers to get into the village, but it was worth it in the end.

St Paul view We stayed in the town itself, and spent the days lazily touring the countryside and coast looking for good views and good food. It was great to wander around in the warm so late in the year.

St Paul side street There were some fantastic little side streets in St Paul and the surrounding villages too. We've billed this one as a side street in St Paul, but I'm not absolutely sure and it may be from one of the other villages a bit further up into the hills.

Sculpture garden at Fondation Maeght While we were there we dropped in to the Museum of the Fondation Maeght to see the modern art, and especially the Joan Miró. The sculptures and the building itself were great too. If you ever go, we recommend walking up from St Paul.

James and High Jinks spent a week at a studio in Köln recording their best 6 songs. They planned to use the tracks to promote themselves to record companies and as the first half of a possible album.

High Jinks are no longer together and the album was never finished, but they all worked hard and learned a lot about how a professional studio operates.

Rachel went on holiday to Turkey with Mike, Angela and Katy. She had a great time ... but we don't have much photographic evidence! The belly dancing looks fun though.
