James now plays bass guitar for High Jinks, with his friends Mike, Ewan and Craig. This year they entered Emergenza Festival, a world-wide competition for unsigned bands. They played twice at the West OneFour club in Fulham, won their first round heat, got a lot of experience and generally had a great time.
The band are getting better with each appearance. The first round of Emerganza was only their second
real performance and they won with more than half the votes from the audience on the night.
They can do a complete set of their own songs, but normally put in a cover or two that they know the
audience will like.
In their semi-final they were up against some stiff competition. Seven other bands who were
much older and much more experienced. But they held their own and aren't likely to play to such a big
crowd for a while.
